Thank You:  I just wanted to let everyone know how very much I appreciate all the food and visits, but most of all the prayers!  I stand amazed in the kindness and concern shown to me during my surgery and recuperation.  Everything went great and a full recovery is expected.  Thanks again to all of my many friends at First Baptist Church!!        Jim Dougherty

Thank You:   I appreciate all the calls, the cards, “goodies”, the flowers, and of course most of all thanks for your many prayers!! (and the visits) My love to all of my FBC friends!!       Doris Thompson

Wednesday Night Meal:  The meal this week will be prepared by the Cub Scouts/Troop 505.  On the menu:  Spaghetti with salad & garlic bread and homemade banana pudding for dessert!!  Please call the office and get your name on the list or complete a reservation slip in the back of the pew and drop into the collection plate.

Candy needed: We will be filling Easter Eggs on Wednesday, April 5th. here at the church from 9:00am until 1:00pm. Lunch will be provided.  We need lots of individually wrapped candy, (small enough to fit into the eggs) or pre-filled eggs. No empty eggs please, we have plenty. We will have containers available in the hallway for the candy and also a sign-up sheet if you can help. Please see Janice for more information.

Easter Egg Hunt:  It’s time for our annual Easter Egg hunt for the entire community on Saturday, April 8th. from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Volunteers are desperately needed for registration, to prepare and serve lunch, leaders for groups, and a clean-up crew.. Please see Janice if you can help.

Shepherd Staff need:    After talking with Martha Gordon at the Shepherd Staff, she says the need is greater than ever before!  They have very few canned vegetables on the shelves now and in the month of February they served a total of 208 families.  We have two collection boxes in the hallway, one at the back door of the church, next to the pastor’s door and the other across from the restrooms on the ground floor.  Please remember these families as you do your grocery shopping. The need is great!!

NC Baptist Children’s Home Food Drive: The need is great with more children to feed.  BCH has opened more cottages due to the increase in children in need.  Please give as you are able.  You may bring canned food or gift cards.  With the cards, the workers can select the food needed at that time. Please give as you are able.

This Weeks Lesson
MORE THAN A PROPHET?

Matthew 21:1-11King James Version (KJV)
21 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
